Do disabled workers need government help to get employed?

In recent times, the question on the degree of disability of people who claim to suffer from one disability to another has arose. Some people feel that disabled persons of our society do not need help from the government to be gainfully employed, while some others believe that the government should do more to help the disabled to be gainfully employed. The proponents and opponents of this subject matter have their various reasons for supporting or opposing it. These reasons will be highlighted in this article, and at the end of it, my reasons for supporting that government needs to help disabled workers to be gainfully employed will be revealed.

Individuals who believe that the disabled people do not need government support always point out the exploits made by some people who are actually disabled as their major reason. It is an obvious fact that some disabled persons do not need support from either the government or other people living in the same society with them. They do unimaginable things that some able bodied people could not even do. For instance, there are some people without hands who make use of their mouth to do marvelous paintings. There are blind people whose songs and exploits in the entertainment industry have made me wonder if these exploits are actually coming from disabled persons. Some disabled people are also great writers. As a result of these exploits by some disabled persons, some people believe the disabled persons should be assets, and not liabilities to the society where they live in.

On the other hand there are people who believe that the government should do more to improve the standard of living of the disabled persons of our society by helping them to be gainfully employed. Their reasons are based on the fact that despite the exploits by some disabled persons, the degree of disability differs. There is a great degree of severity between people who are deaf, but use hearing ads to improve on their hearing, and people who are mentally ill, but finds it difficult to get access to medications that stabilize them. Those people who believe the government should help disabled persons to get employed point to the fact that some disabled persons exploits should not be used to deny other persons who have greater severity in disability the support they need from either the government or from other individuals.

Judging from the reasons given for the opposition or support for the subject matter, it is clear that the two arguments made have balance, but the fact that few disabled persons could do what others cannot do should not be generalized, and this should not be used as an excuse to deny those who are totally helpless the support they really need.
