Do cell phones keep us more connected or more isolated?

In recent times cell phones have become the ideal technology which helps people all over the world to stay connected and be in touch. This does not only apply to the advanced world, but also countries referred to as the third world are not left out. The reasons for its increased usage especially in less developed countries is as a result of its portability, reliability, and it is also affordable. For the fact that cell phones are affordable for people from all classes of our society, the number of people that make use of them is on the increase, and this actually helps people to stay connected with their loved ones wherever they might be at any point in time.

Although people are entitled to their own opinion, but people who think that cell phones keep us isolated should consider asking themselves if it was possible for more people to stay connected in the past before cell phones became widespread all over the world, or whether the increased connection between individuals in our society is better in today' s world.

Everyday, i get in touch with more people, not only within my own country, but also from other countries around the world. This is made possible with the latest technology i have been using for some time now, and this technology is the cell phone. The internet has been able to help, but the accessibility of cell phones makes it easier for more people to stay in touch.

In my home country, I know the stress people went through in order to connect with their loved ones who traveled abroad before the advent of cell phones in my country, but today, people can easily connect with their relations abroad with the use of this great device (the cell phone). I can vividly remember how people used to queue up at phone booths waiting for their turn to make calls, especially international calls. Those days were stressful as people sometimes engage in quarrels and fights just to make calls. With the availability of cell phones to most people in our society, things like this has become history. I now find it easier connecting with my relations who reside outside my country than it was in those days when making calls was a big deal. As a result of the fact that more people now have access to cell phones, staying connected has been greatly improved especially in my own country. I am not trying to use the improvement in communication that cell phone has brought or the easy access that it has granted to my compatriots to make conclusion, but the discussions i have had with other people from other countries has made me to understand that there is no much difference elsewhere.

Cell phones actually keep us more connected as the number of people that make use of them continue to increase on a daily basis.
